Rock Artists~ Gerry Cusick,

and of course~ Yours Truly !
Each day provides us with the opportunity start the day as we choose. I wake up each day excited to have my coffee and conversations with my students on our LIVE sessions. I place the computer outside, open the session with a different view each week, let them draw, chat or chill. Whatever they they choose to do. Going from in the classroom to being in this virtual world is such a game changer in education. I am excited that I can share my “space” with my students in a way that we never thought possible before. However actually being in the classroom with them and seeing their faces each day, their individual personalities, and “those moments”~ the good and the bad ~are true teacher treasures. This journey I have been on over the last several years in education is quite the story. I am so glad I started blogging. I’d never remember all of the details.
I have also invited my yearbook class to check out my Blog and photographs. I have tasked them with the challenge to take their own photos to add to our Google Classroom. My hopes is that they will be inspired by MANY of YOU!
Well time to go …..I am in a Family Feud game with a few of my colleagues. There are teams, competition and prizes. The first round starts tonight. I will let you know how it ends……
As for my art work…and in the studio…I am so ready…I can hear the materials calling me….soooooon…..
Have an “Up Close” Sunshine “En Plein Air” Inspirational Day!

As promised, these are few of the photos I was able to take before they closed our school the day of the scheduled Art Show.
The Structure Sculptures were created by my 3~D Junior High Art Students. They concentrated on the artist and architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Each student had to draw/ create/ design their individual structure on paper. As a table team they had to design their “neighborhood”. As a class we placed all the “neighborhoods” together to create our 3~D “City”. The students were given a variety of materials to use during their construction phase. They even had to use color samples from the paint store to choose their roof and structure color. They were given a variety of sizes of canvass to create their “real estate”. Although this project took many classes to complete, the results brought tears to my eyes as the final touches were made, the display was set and SHOW ready. Sadly, with the COVID 19 pandemic our school had to close BEFORE anyone had a chance to walk our “city”.
Enjoy your tour! I’ll be sharing more photos soon of the rest of the Art Show that was through out the entire school. MANY, MANY hours of that Art Teacher “labor of love” for our students.
Sending you wishes for a Beautiful day in the neighborhood!

My online classes started with an “En Plein Air” lesson for the first week. (I am a little behind on my blogs. We are about 4 weeks into the remote teaching from home). While LIVE streaming from my home, I thought it would be a GREAT opportunity to share my views and art with my middle school (7th & 8th grade) students. We have a scheduled time each day that we meet. They can tune in, sketch or paint, depending on the supplies they have available at their homes. Moving forward, facing the possibilities that we are in this for the rest of the school year, I may be assembling art kits for a few of my students so that they can continue at home with meaningful lessons.
I was teaching a 3 D class at the time we were excused for the “next few weeks”. I will be sharing their Frank Lloyd Wright inspired structures that they had just completed. We were also set up and ready for the North Valley Art Show. I will share more about this lesson and Student Art Show in a future blogs.
Sending you wishes and inspirations for “En Plein Air ” !
Well Wishes for a Healthy Day!
